Digital Chart Data for Fishing, Monitoring and Planning purposes

The Norwegian Hydrographic Office has built up a database of seabed information covering the Norwegian continental shelf especially prepared for the fishing industry. First and foremost it gives a good picture of the seabed topography in the form of dense depth contours, maritime borders, oil installations, seabed composition etc. The wreck and obstructions database from Hydrographic office is also included

The database mainly covers the area between a line drawn 4 nautical miles from the coastline and depths down to 1000m.

The seabed topography is shown with depth contours in varying scales from approximately 1:100.000 to 1:1 million.

The fishing database has, during 1997, 1998 and 1999, been exclusively updated. The most important parts of this update are as follows:

- The data has been converted to WGS84 and geographical co-ordinates
- All information from the fishery plotting chart series
- City and large town names have been added
- Filled depth contours
- Oil industry related information
- Seabed composition and condition
- Update maritime borders
- The fishing database is compiled in CM93 S57v2 compatible format.
C-MAP can offer new and updated information as soon as it becomes available at a reduced price
